Watering
When Watering New Plants Give Them 1″ of Water a Week. Do this By Placing a Hose at the Base of the Tree or Shrub at a Slow Trickle. For Trees this Should be Done for Approximately 1 to 1 1/2 Hours Once a Week. For Shrubs Water at a Slow Trickle for Approximately 30 to 45 Minutes Once a Week. Perennials should be Watered with a Sprinkler for Approximately 45 to 60 Minutes and Checked Every 3 to 4 Days.

Year Round Interest
When planting your beds. Remember to incorporate year round interest. It begins with a well-researched plant plan. The goal is flowering plants or trees in Spring and summer, fall foilage and good winter structure.

Fertilizer
Use a starter fertilizer whenever you plant anything. Starter fertilizers can provide a tremendous boost to new plantings. A good starter fertilizer combined with good planting technique gives your plants the best start.

Mulching
Trees and Shrubs should be Mulched with 2″ to 3″ Thick Layer, Being Careful that the Mulch Does Not Come in Contact with the Bark of the Tree or Shrub. To Do This; Taper the Mulch Towards the Base of the Trunk. Perennials should be Mulched in the Same Way.

Newly Seeded Lawn
After Seeding, Water Frequently but Lightly; 10 to 20 Minutes. This would be 2 to 3 Time per Day, Depending On How Hot or Dry the Weather is. For 10 Days to 2 Weeks, Continue this Frequent Watering. After 10 Days to 2 Weeks, Water 1 to 2 Times per Day, 30 to 45 Minutes Each. Bluegrass will First Start to Germinate after about 2 Weeks of Watering. After 3 to 4 Weeks, Reduce the Frequency of watering, but Increase the Length of Time the Sprinkler is on. After about 2 to 3 Months You Should be Watering 1 to 2 Times per Week, Applying 1 inch of Water per Week. Remember, new turf needs time to establish. In some cases it can take up to 2 to 3 years depending on soil and site conditions.

Layers
Remember to layer your planting beds with plants of different heights. This adds contrast and interest to your planting beds. Also use the same plants in different areas to bring unity to your landscape.
